How to listen to a PDF with Reshu PDF Reader
Reshu PDF Reader is a free Android app from SR Studio. It can read the text of a PDF or EPUB aloud using the speech voices on your phone, so you can listen to a document instead of reading it on screen. There is no account and no ads.
Starting the audio
Open your file, then start read-aloud from the reader. The audio follows the document, and you can move by chapter when the file has chapter information. Reshu keeps your place in each book, so closing the app does not lose your position.
Speed and voices
You can set a reading speed per book: faster for a review, slower for dense study notes. The voices come from your phone's installed speech engine. Reshu supports English, Hindi, Urdu and Indian Punjabi app text, and matches Punjabi text to a pa-IN voice when one is installed. Voice quality and language coverage depend on your speech provider, so if a voice sounds wrong, check which voices your phone has installed.
Listening away from the screen
A home-screen reading widget lets you control playback without opening the full app. If you want the whole book as an audio file, Reshu can export it in the foreground; scanned pages fall back to OCR text when possible, and cancelling can take up to about 30 seconds while the current encoding stage finishes.
What voices mean for privacy
Some phone voices work fully on the device; others are online. Online voices may send the reading text to the installed speech provider. If you read sensitive documents, prefer an on-device voice. The app's own data choices are separate: push notifications and app-usage sharing are both off by default and are opt-in.
Honest limits
Read-aloud works on the text a file actually contains. A scanned page with no real text needs OCR first, and OCR can make mistakes. A PDF that has text but no reading order or headings can still be awkward to navigate. Try it with your own files - the app is free.
